⏱️ Before You Begin
To successfully connect your lock, make sure:
- Your smartphone has Bluetooth enabled
- Location Services are turned on
- The lock has fresh, functional batteries installed
- You are standing within 5 feet of the lock
- You have access to the Programming Code or QR sticker located inside the lock
These permissions and setup steps are required so the Schlage Home app can securely “handshake” with the lock during pairing.
🧾 Step-by-Step Setup Process

🔐 How to Activate Pairing Mode
Different Schlage models enter pairing mode differently:
Encode / Encode Plus
- Press the black pairing button located inside the lock
- Hold until the blue light begins flashing
Schlage Sense
- Press the Schlage button on the exterior keypad
Once pairing mode is active, the app should automatically detect the lock.
📶 Wi-Fi Connection Notes
For Wi-Fi-enabled models such as Encode or Encode Plus:
- Select your home Wi-Fi network during setup
- Enter the correct Wi-Fi password
- Wait for the app to confirm connection before leaving the setup screen
A successful Wi-Fi connection allows:
- Remote locking/unlocking
- Access code management
- Notifications and activity tracking
